Building a network for a better world

Belgeco brings together ecological communities across Belgium — urban and rural — working toward sustainability on social, ecological, economic and cultural levels.

4 dimensions of sustainability

What is an eco-community?

Every eco-community is unique — no two are the same. They can be rural or urban. An ecovillage is one particular form of eco-community: a citizen-led initiative intentionally designed with attention for all dimensions of sustainability.

Each project finds its own balance across four interconnected dimensions:

Our goal

Belgeco aims to unite the dynamics around ecological communities in Belgium — both within and outside cities. These communities each strive in their own way for greater sustainability on social, economic, cultural and ecological levels.

"We dream of a cohesive network of mutual cooperation for a better world for all living beings."

Our goal is to form a collaborative network, supported by existing and emerging eco-communities and engaged organisations. Belgeco is the Belgian branch of GEN Europe, embedded in the Global Ecovillage Network.
